SUPERFUTURES.ORG LAUNCHES MOBILE “CAREER COACH” FOR TEENS, PARENTS AT SXSW

MOVE HELPS FAMILIES ADDRESS COUNSELING SHORTFALLS IN SCHOOL

superfuturesAUSTIN, TX, March 17, 2010 – SuperFutures.org announced today that parents and teens stressed about their futures can now turn to their mobile devices to get career planning advice needed to be successful in today’s global economy. To sign-up, go here or simply text “SUPER” to 84280.

The SuperFutures.org Mobile Coaching Program, launched at the 2010 South by Southwest Interactive Conference, comes after a new study by the Gates Foundation and Public Agenda in which 60 percent of young people gave their high school guidance counselors a fair or poor grade. The study also found that most teens felt “just like a face in the crowd” and were less likely to go to college when they had a bad experience with their counselor.

“Busy parents and teens stressed about their futures can now simply text 84280 to begin to create a SuperFuture,” said Jennifer Openshaw, CEO of SuperFutures.org, author, and a nationally known commentator who has appeared on Oprah and CNN. “SuperFutures.org wants parents to know that we’re here to help your child be successful in today’s global world.”

Openshaw, who founded Women’s Financial Network, now a division of Siebert Financial (NYSE:SIEB), and has hosted ABC Radio’s Winning Advice, created SuperFutures.org to help address parents’ concerns about their child’s success in a more competitive global economy and amid an unemployment rate that tops 20% for young people. Parents told SuperFutures.org they are more concerned about their child’s successful transition to the working world than they are paying for college.

The Mobile Coaching Program, powered by Buzz360, will provide real-time tips to educate teens and parents about career planning and related topics including business and finances.

SuperFutures.org’s mission is to help students answer: What do I want to be when I grow up and how do I get there? It offers “Discover Your Future” seminars featuring Google execs and career coaches and a signature summer Global Leader Program at the United Nations and New York University.

Additional programs for students nationwide will be coming soon. To get notified, go here. For more information, visit www.superfutures.org or http://twitter.com/superfutures.org.
